Exercise Can Make You Happier Than Money

It’s official: working out can make you happier than money. That is, under the right circumstances, of course. And for those who are not into exercising, there’s nothing to worry about. We have more good news if you scroll down.

Exercise can make you as happy as a $25,000 income increase.

In this study, researchers from Yale and Oxford asked about 1.2 million Americans what their physical routine was, while on the other hand gathering data about their background (gender, income, marital status, medical history, etc.) This helped them to find a direct correlation between happiness and physical activity.
It turns out that people who exercised rated their mental health 43% higher than those who didn’t and had similar backgrounds. Researchers found out that, in fact, physical activity led the subjects to evaluate their mental health in a similar way as people who earned $25,000 more than them.

More exercise is not always better.

That being said, this doesn’t necessarily mean that you should workout non-stop for hours. From this particular study, researchers concluded that exercising too much can be just as counterproductive for your mental health as not exercising at all. They saw the best results from people who were physically active for between 30 and 60 minutes, 5 times per week.

Some sports make you happier than others.

They also found that some sports are more effective at making people happy than others. Typically, this includes group sports, since they allow team members to be social, as this study concluded. Oddly, aerobics and cycling offer the same benefits, despite not being classified as group sports.

What the Logos of World-Famous Brands Actually Mean

Pepsi

According to Davis Bradham, the creator of Pepsi, his drink made of sugar, water, caramel, lemon oil, and nutmeg stimulated the digestion process. This is why he came up with the name Pepsi based on the world dyspepsia which is a catch-all term for all digestive disorders.
In more than 100 years of its existence, the logo has changed numerous times. Today, it’s a circle made of blue and red halves separated with a white wave. Interestingly, the company had to pay more than $1 million for this logo. According to its creators, it references the earth’s magnetic field, Pythagoras’ theorem, and the theory of the golden ratio. But the reference to the US national flag is far more obvious.

IKEA

Most of the products in this store are named with hard-to-pronounce Swedish words but the name of the company is very different. The creator of the company, Ingvar Kamprad, came up with an acronym using the first letters of his name and the name of the farm Elmtaryd in Agunnaryd where he was born. The logo is pretty simple and references the Swedish flag’s colors.

Android

According to a legend, the founder of the company, Andy Rubin, was called android because of how much he loved robots. So when he started working on his own operational system, he chose this name for it.
The Android logo was designed by Irina Blok. She said that she pictured a robot but just couldn’t come up with the right image. It’s funny that the pictures drawn on restroom doors helped her come up with an idea for what she wanted.

Starbucks

The name for the famous coffee chain was made up by the owners almost by accident. They gathered one evening and started making up words that started with "st"— they thought that these 2 letters would be a great match and they sounded cool. Then, someone found an old mining map and found the town of Starbo. The friends then remembered one of the Moby Dick characters, Starbuck. This was how the name of the iconic coffee company came to be.
But why is there a siren of the sea on the logo? This is a reference to the book. Starbuck from the novel was an assistant on the ship. The creators decided to go along with the sea theme, choosing the 2-tailed mermaid from Ancient Greek mythology as their logo.

Instagram

The founder of the app, Kevin Systrom, was interested in photography before he created Instagram. He really loved the instant photos made by Polaroid, for example. This is where the word “instant” came from. Photos can also be sent as messages or telegrams, hence the combination of instant and telegram to make Instagram.
The logo of the company, in turn, was inspired by the name: a slightly altered picture of the retro camera Polaroid OneStep. Later, it was changed to be more minimalistic but you can still see the camera in the logo.

Why do we laugh ?

People laugh for a lot of different reasons. We laugh when something is funny, like a joke. We laugh when something surprises us, like someone slipping on a banana peel and falling on their butt. We laugh when someone tickles us. We sometimes even laugh when we're nervous or scared!
Why do we laugh ?
The first thing it’s important to note is that we’re all born with the capacity to laugh. Anyone who has a child (or has been around children) will know that one of the first things babies learn to do is laugh. Laughter has no language, it’s completely universal. You could visit an entirely foreign country, not speak their language, and still understand when one another is laughing. People don’t learn to laugh, it’s just something we’re kind of born with. Weird, right? However, what’s even stranger is that you don’t decide to laugh…

An unconscious decision

Let’s try a little experiment. Try to laugh out loud, right now. Or ask someone around you to laugh on the spot. It’s difficult, isn’t it? That’s because laughing is not something we do consciously. You can make a conscious decision to hold in laughter, but you can’t make a conscious decision to laugh. Unless you’re an incredible actor, in which case it might come a bit more naturally for you. Laughter can come from absolutely nowhere, and it gives a little insight into whatever is going on in our unconscious mind.

What is laughter?

We’ve all been in the middle of a room where laughter is happening. Perhaps at the cinema watching a comedy movie. Maybe at a comedy gig. At some point in your life, you’ve seen people laughing around you. Everyone’s laugh is different; from deep, belly laughs through to chuckles and snorts. We make sounds (well, most of us do), alter our facial expressions, and even use our arms, legs or body in some cases. Our breathing also changes when we laugh, which is why you get that funny little sigh at the end of a good giggle.

Do you laugh alone?

While little is known yet about why we actually laugh, what is known is that it’s a message to other people. After all, how many times do you truly laugh out loud on your own? Laughter is something that’s quite social and can be contagious; like when your entire classroom used to burst into fits of giggles in front of the teacher, despite trying to hold it back. The first time we laugh is usually between 3 and 4 months of age, and it acts in a similar way to crying. We used it to communicate with our parents or carers. It’s a way of saying, “this is something I enjoy” as opposed to “I am unhappy” like when we would cry.

You don’t laugh at jokes

Perhaps one of the strangest things about laughter is that people rarely laugh at jokes, exactly. Dozens of tests and studies have been carried out on humans and laughter, with many finding that chuckling rarely followed jokes. Instead, people would laugh after things such as “Hey, how have you been?” or “How did you do on the test?” – Not exactly witty jokes now, are they? We don’t decide to laugh at these particular moments, it’s our brains making that choice for us. Not only that, but the laughter rarely interrupted a sentence in studies, instead happening during times we would usually breathe. It’s our way of communicating a playful or joyful intent… Not just because someone told a funny joke.

The best destinations for traveling alone

Solo travelers can and do go just about anywhere, but there are certain places around the world that are particularly easy and even rewarding to visit by yourself. In crafting this list of the best places to travel alone, I looked at factors such as safety (especially for women traveling alone), local culture, the chance to meet other travelers, and the ease of getting around if you don’t speak the language.
The best destinations for traveling alone

New Zealand

Solo travelers who love hiking, mountain biking, or other outdoor activities shouldn’t miss New Zealand. It’s one of the world’s most relaxing places to travel; crime is low, and just about every city and town has its own visitor info center with friendly staff who will help you find lodging or book activities (so you’ll never feel lost). Best of all, there are countless adventures to be had, from the country’s famous Great Walks to Lord of the Rings tours.

Denmark

Exploring Denmark, which appears frequently on top 10 lists of the world’s happiest and safest countries, is a breeze for solo travelers. Most Danes speak English and are glad to help tourists find their way around; some even welcome travelers into their homes for dinner. History lovers can enjoy Viking ruins and medieval castles, while outdoorsy sorts can join the locals on the thousands of miles of bike paths that crisscross the country.

Thailand

Thanks to smiling locals, unforgettable sights, and a well-established backpacker trail, Thailand is incredibly popular with people traveling alone. You can make your solo trip anything you want in Thailand: an urban adventure in Bangkok, a week on the beaches of Koh Samui, a homestay in a northern hill town, a yoga retreat on a remote island—or a mix of all of the above.

Chile

This long, skinny country is one of South America’s safest, boasting incredible landscapes (beaches! Mountains! Glaciers!) as well as delicious wines. Chileans are friendly and welcoming, although they don’t all speak English—so you’ll want to brush up on basic Spanish phrases before you go. Popular spots to visit include the remote Atacama Desert in the north and the sweeping mountain vistas of Patagonia in the south.

Japan

With its low crime rates and kind, respectful locals, Japan is an ideal place for solo travel, including solo female travel. Buy a rail pass and hop aboard the country’s clean, fast bullet trains to explore temples and teahouses in Kyoto, hiking trails and hot springs in Hakone, and the bustling neon streets of Tokyo. Be sure to spend at least one night in a traditional ryokan, where you’ll sleep on a tatami mat and enjoy a typical Japanese breakfast.

Tanzania

Is an African safari on your bucket list? Consider a solo trip to Tanzania, where you can spot the Big Five and much more. If you want to meet fellow travelers, look for a camp or lodge that offers communal meals and shared game drives, or join a group trip. Keep an eye out for tours with a discounted or waived single supplement (you’ll often see these during the off season when demand is low), or book with a company such as Intrepid Travel or G Adventures, which will help you skip the supplement by matching you with a same-sex roommate.

Australia

A recent report found that Australia was the world’s safest country for women, making this a particularly appealing destination for solo female travel. Men and women alike will appreciate Australia’s diverse landscapes, ranging from the famous Sydney skyline to the colorful Great Barrier Reef to the wide-open, red-dirt stretches of the Outback. There’s a well-established backpacker trail of hostels where you can meet other solo travelers, and the laid-back locals speak English (albeit with their own unique vocabulary!), so you won’t have trouble finding your way.

10 Things You Think Are Illegal

It may come as a surprise, but all of these things are legal in the U.S., at least in some parts.
10 Things You Think Are Illegal

Women Going Topless

While it’s considered indecent by a large amount of the population most places don’t have any specific law against going topless and various places explicitly state that it’s 100% fine for a women to show her tits.
So why did I censor these tits? Because I’d rather avoid getting my video flagged and make you log in or mess with the URL to watch this.
Anyways it’s obviously got to be legal in Florida considering Mardi Gras and all, especially when you consider how heavily policed it is.

Owning a Machine Gun

Obviously in countries that ban or heavily monitor guns this one doesn’t apply, but in the USA it’s not illegal to own one, except well it sort of is.
If the machine gun was made before May 19th 1986 it’s completely legal to own, hooray, go and shoot some clay pigeons or whatever.
Of course since it needs to have been made before that date the prices have gone up by a lot, however, if you become a dealer or a manufacturer you don’t need to be in the police or military.

Sleeping in your car

In at least 14 states, it’s perfectly legal to sleep in your car at a rest stop (you’d think it would be more, right?). But it’s not really illegal to sleep in your car anywhere, unless your car is parked illegally or if you’re too drunk to be driving (if your blood alcohol content is above the legal limit, you should not be in your car at all).

Driving while drowsy

One-third of all motor vehicle accidents are caused by over-tired drivers. However, it’s not illegal to drive a car while drowsy except in New Jersey and Arkansas. And most states that have attempted to put such a law on the books have failed thus far.

 Giving Your Kids Alcohol

The US has one of the highest drinking ages in the world, but in 29 states it’s perfectly fine and dandy if your parent gives a shot of whiskey while you’re at home.
There’s even a few states where you just need to be in a private residence, no parents needed and there’s 10 states where you can buy your child a pint in a pub.
Obviously you shouldn’t go and give your 10-year-old hard liquor, because that will almost certainly cause them some serious problems, but a sip of your beer? Should be fine I guess, but I’m not a doctor, so just go ahead and ignore me.

Owning a Tank

Arguably the pinnacle of land based combat and is also pretty much useless in any situation where you’re not going to be fired upon, so you’d think, using common sense, that it’d be illegal to own one.
Well you are sort of right, if there’s an activated gun on the thing that’s a no-no, but if you want one without a hefty barrel on it, no problamo.
This is true in quite a few countries including the US, UK and Australia; obviously military equipment is going to cost a arse-load of money, but if you’re prepared to spend six or more figures you can have a tank parked in your garage.

School Corporal Punishment

That’s right in these red states in America teachers are completely within their rights to give their students a good ol’ spanking if they say something they’re not supposed to.
You’d think that such a thing would be pretty much universally illegal, at least in the first world, but then here we are.
Luckily most schools don’t practise their ‘right’ to hit children, but there are some that do, which is kinda fucked up really.

Firing a Missile

In South Carolina it’s legal for you to fire a missile, but only if you get a permit, but still, that’s pretty crazy, of course from their definition is loose enough to include fireworks.
If you don’t get a permit you will get fined, but the funny thing is that the maximum fine for doing so is $100, which seems pretty lax all things considered.
Obviously if you go and shoot someone or a building with a missile it’s doubly illegal and you’ll get charged for a bigger crime, but if you miss and everything goes okay? Not illegal.

Cannibalism

This ones rather slippery, while it’s technically not prohibited in the USA and Australia there are laws against murder and desecrating corpses.
However, legally it’s considered to be the ‘nonconsensual’ consumption, meaning that if someone gave you permission to eat them after they died, or maybe they’ll just give you there arm or something, it’s legal.
However, the UK has outlawed it since the 1800s, so if cannibalism gives you the chills like it does me, maybe you should move there.

Bestiality

While in various places (some US states for instance) it’s not technically illegal to copulate with a Collie, but the judge is going to find some other crime for it, like animal cruelty.
However, in Finland you can fuck a duck, fist a fish and blow a boar if you want, I have no idea what’s up with Finland, but it’s been legal since 1976, it’s not like a few other places where they just never got around to making it illegal, it’s been stated that you can put your cock in a cock, so to speak.
So yeah Finland, you’re definitely an odd one, you should get that checked out by a professional.

Stop setting goals and focus on this instead

We all have things that we want to achieve in our lives — getting into better shape, building a successful business, raising a wonderful family, writing a best-selling book, winning a championship, and so on.
And for most of us, the path to those things starts by setting a specific and actionable goal. At least, this is how I approached my life until recently. I would set goals for classes I took, for weights that I wanted to lift in the gym, and for clients I wanted in my business.
What I’m starting to realize, however, is that when it comes to actually getting things done and making progress in the areas that are important to you, there is a much better way to do things.
Stop setting goals and focus on this instead

Goals reduce your happiness at the current time

If you have a goal, you are telling yourself that in the future, you are going to be a certain way, or in the future, you’re going to have something you’ve always wanted. But this is in the future. Goals always look towards the future and ‘what if’s’ rather than what is happening in the present. These goals are you constantly telling yourself that you’re not good enough at that time, and is a huge burden on a lot of people. So instead of focusing on your goals and the future, focus on your current actions and the system you have in place each day or week to achieve the future goal. Each step of the way is a milestone to be proud of.

Goals are at odds with long-term progress

You may think that having a goal will keep you motivated during the long-term. However, this is often not the case. If you have been training for a marathon or writing a set amount of words each day to finish your book to reach the end goal, you will probably stop once you’ve completed it and you will go back to square one. However, systems keep you on the straight and narrow for the long-term, because as soon as you finish, you carry on with your system and you keep running.

Goals don’t predict the future

As much as we often wish we could, we cannot predict the future. When we set ourselves goals, we try to predict what our future will be like when we achieve it. Unfortunately, there is no way to do this, and we may be setting ourselves up for disaster. If you keep up with your systems, you are able to adapt yourself each step of the way to remove any predictions that may upset or push your back from your end result.

Fall In Love With Systems

None of this is to say that goals are useless. However, I've found that goals are good for planning your progress and systems are good for actually making progress.
Goals can provide direction and even push you forward in the short-term, but eventually a well-designed system will always win. Having a system is what matters. Committing to the process is what makes the difference

Banned food for your pet

Some foods that are considered good for people can be very dangerous for pets. The list below highlights some of the most common foods that can be dangerous to animals.
Banned food for your pet

Avocado

Is a treat from the table OK for your pet? That depends on what it is. Avocados, for example, have something called persin. It’s fine for people who aren't allergic to it. But too much might cause vomiting or diarrhea in dogs. If you grow avocados at home, keep your dog away from the plants. Persin is in the leaves, seed, and bark, as well as the fruit. Also, the avocado seed can become stuck in the intestines or stomach, and obstruction could be fatal.

Alcohol

Alcohol has the same effect on a pet liver and brain that it has on people. But it takes a lot less to hurt your dog. Just a little beer, liquor, wine, or food with alcohol can be bad. It can cause vomiting, diarrhea, coordination problems, breathing problems, coma, even death. And the smaller your pet, the worse it can be.

Chocolate, Coffee and Caffeine

These products all contain substances called methylxanthines, which are found in cacao seeds, the fruit of the plant used to make coffee, and in the nuts of an extract used in some sodas. When ingested by pets, methylxanthines can cause vomiting and diarrhea, panting, excessive thirst and urination, hyperactivity, abnormal heart rhythm, tremors, seizures and even death. Note that darker chocolate is more dangerous than milk chocolate. White chocolate has the lowest level of methylxanthines, while baking chocolate contains the highest.

Citrus

The stems, leaves, peels, fruit and seeds of citrus plants contain varying amounts of citric acid, essential oils that can cause irritation and possibly even central nervous system depression if ingested in significant amounts. Small doses, such as eating the fruit, are not likely to present problems beyond minor stomach upset.

Onions and Garlic

Keep onions and garlic -- powdered, raw, cooked, or dehydrated -- away from your pet. They can kill his red blood cells, causing anemia. That's even the onion powder in some baby food. A rare small dose is probably OK. But eating a lot just once can cause poisoning. Look for signs like weakness, vomiting, and breathing problems.

Grapes and Raisins

There are better treats to give your pet.  Grapes and raisins can cause kidney failure in pet. And just a small amount can make a dog sick. Vomiting over and over is an early sign. Within a day, your dog will get sluggish and depressed.

Coconut and Coconut Oil

When ingested in small amounts, coconut and coconut-based products are not likely to cause serious harm to your pet. The flesh and milk of fresh coconuts do contain oils that may cause stomach upset, loose stools or diarrhea. Because of this, we encourage you to use caution when offering your pets these foods. Coconut water is high in potassium and should not be given to your pet.

Milk and Dairy

Because pets do not possess significant amounts of lactase (the enzyme that breaks down lactose in milk), milk and other dairy-based products cause them diarrhea or other digestive upset.

Fat Trimmings and Bones

Fat trimmed from meat, both cooked and uncooked, can cause pancreatitis in dogs. And, even though it seems natural to give a dog a bone, she can choke on it. Bones can also splinter and block or cause cuts in your dog's digestive system.

Salt and Salty Snack Foods

Large amounts of salt can produce excessive thirst and urination, or even sodium ion poisoning in pets. Signs that your pet may have eaten too many salty foods include vomiting, diarrhea, depression, tremors, elevated body temperature, seizures and even death. As such, we encourage you to avoid feeding salt-heavy snacks like potato chips, pretzels, and salted popcorn to your pets.

10 Things to Do to Improve Gas Mileage

As gas prices remain high, improving your car’s mileage is crucial. By stretching a tank of gas further, you can reduce the amount of times you must fill up per month, which can help you stick to your budget. This is especially important for those who purchased non-efficient cars when gas was cheaper. But regardless of what car you drive, you can always use a little extra money at the end of the month, and cutting back your gas expenses is a great way to pad your bank account.
There are a range of tips, from basic to advanced, that you can implement today to help increase your mileage and save money on gas.

Reduce Excess Weight

You’d be surprised how much all that junk in your car’s trunk can weigh. If your car has front-wheel drive, putting extra weight on the rear axle means the front wheels aren’t getting as good a grip as they could be, which reduces your mileage. Furthermore, extra weight means the engine has to work a little harder to move the car, which also reduces your gas mileage. If you’re carrying a lot of weight, lightening the load can help you get a mile or two more per gallon.

Properly Inflate Tires

I usually inflate my tires when they look low, but even if they are slightly low, undetectable to the eye, they could significantly reduce your mileage. Basically, under-inflated tires result in your engine using more gas to move the car.
Make sure your tires are inflated to the pressure indicated in your owner’s manual for the best balance between gas mileage and traction. This will translate into significant savings, as being under-inflated by 10 PSI per tire can cost you five MPG or more.

Replace Air Filter and Spark Plugs

Replacing the air filter and spark plugs during a routine auto checkup not only helps your car last longer, but it can help your engine burn gas more efficiently. For most cars, this simple task costs less than $50 if you’re comfortable with DIY car maintenance.

Use the Recommended Motor Oil

Don’t think that using any old type of motor oil will work for your car – its engine is designed to work best with a specific type. If you use a heavier weight oil than is recommended, this could create too much friction and cause the engine to work harder and burn more fuel. Check your owner’s manual to see what’s recommended for your car, and utilize only that type of oil.

Check Your Gas Cap Seal

Over time, the rubber seal on your gas cap will start to break down, allowing oxygen to leak into the gas tank. This causes an overabundance of air to enter the engine as it pulls gasoline from the tank, and in turn the engine burns more gas.

Replace spark plugs early and save a lot

If your 100,000-mile spark plugs have 80,000 miles on them, they’re 80 percent worn. Misfires and incomplete combustion occur more frequently during that last 20,000 miles, costing you almost $562.50 in wasted fuel. You have to replace your spark plugs anyway, so do it early and pocket the savings. Even if you have to replace the plugs one extra time over the life of your car, you’ll still come out way ahead. And don’t automatically assume your plugs are good for 100,000 miles. Many four-cylinder engines require new spark plugs at either 30,000- or 60,000-mile intervals.

Replace a failing thermostat

A thermostat that opens too quickly or stays open can dramatically lower the coolant temperature and put a mega-chill on your gas mileage. All you need to check it is an inexpensive infrared laser thermometer. Simply aim it at the thermostat housing. If your engine is warmed up and the thermometer reads less than 160 degrees Fahrenheit, you’re wasting gas and it’s time to replace the thermostat. (To reduce reflection errors, spray the thermostat housing with black paint prior to testing.) A new thermostat costs about $10 and is easy to replace.

Driving slower

Hard acceleration in stop-and-go driving costs you 20 percent in gas mileage. If you live your life in rush hour traffic and like to put the pedal to the metal, spend all your extra time at the next stoplight figuring out how you could have spent the $750 a year you’re wasting (70¢ per gallon).

Check for brake drag

Brake drag can really sink your mileage. Brake calipers have a nasty habit of rusting, binding and dragging down your gas mileage. How can you tell if your brakes are dragging without having them checked at a shop? Easy! Buy an inexpensive noncontact infrared laser thermometer (about $20 at any home center), remove the wheel cover (if equipped), and aim the laser at the wheel hub after a drive. Compare the readings from the right and left sides. If they vary by more than 20 percent, you’ve probably got a dragging brake or a wheel bearing problem, so take it in for repairs.

Keep an eye on warning lights

Pay attention to your warning lights. Car owners think a glowing check engine light isn’t important because it just means you’ve got an “emissions problem.” Guess what? Emissions problems are almost always caused by an incomplete burn and that means you’re not getting the most bang for your buck. In other words, a check light means you’re wasting gas. Worse yet, all that extra gas goes right into your expensive catalytic converter, causing it to fail early. A new catalytic converter can run upwards of $1,000 to replace and then you STILL have to fix the underlying problem that turned on the check engine light in the first place. Many times the check engine light comes on due to a bum sensor or vacuum leak. Replacing a sensor or fixing a vacuum leak can save far more than what you’ll waste in reduced MPG.

10 Secrets Your Body Language Reveals About You

Though music is generally regarded as the “universal language” that connects people from all over the world, it isn’t the only form of communication that is inherently understood by humans from all walks of life. On an even simpler and intrinsic level, there’s also body language, which clearly communicates feelings of happiness, sadness, bitterness, and fear—sometimes even when we don’t want it to.
Yes, some nonverbal communication cues simply can’t be controlled— but it’s still important to know what your body language says about you. With that in mind, we’ve rounded up 10 things you’re communicating with your body without even realizing it, from those power poses you strike in meetings to those tells that show you’re nervous.

Secrets Your Body Language Reveals About You

Eye Contact

In any culture, eye contact is one of the most important aspects when dealing with other people, especially those whom we see for the first time. Maintaining good eye contact shows respect and interest.
An eye contact which lasts longer than usual will make your interlocutor feel that you press him. The one that is shorter than usual may be regarded as loss of interest.

Posture

Take a good posture and you will automatically feel better. Next time you notice that you feel depressed, look at how you are sitting or standing. Most likely, you slouch and your shoulders and head are down. This compresses the breast and prevents proper breathing, which makes you feel nervous and restless.
Good posture should be easy and relaxing for the spine, there should be no tension in the muscles. Imagine a thin trickle slowly running up your spine.

Head

The position of the head plays an important role. When you want to feel confident, keep your head straight, both horizontally and vertically. Thus you will look authoritative in front of others so that they take you and what you say seriously.
When you want to look friendly, just tilt the head in any direction. You can change the inclination of the head during the conversation, as well as nod to show that you’re interested.

Hands

Hand movements allow other people to understand how open and receptive we are. Keep your arms relaxed at the sides of the body or behind your back. It will say that you are not afraid of contact and are open to any information.
In general, the more open you are, the more you tend to use your hands when speaking. If you want to express your positive attitude to a person, do not cross your arms, because it shows disapproval and negative position.

Legs

Legs are the farthest from the brain and, therefore, are the most difficult to control. They tend to move much more when we are nervous or confused. In most situations, especially in interviews and workshops, it is better to keep them as motionless as possible.
Also, pay attention to how you cross your legs. Do you cross your legs at your knees, ankles, or put one leg on the other? It’s more a matter of comfort than anything else. Just be aware that the last mentioned position is generally perceived as the most defensive.

Orientation of the body

The orientation of the body gives an idea of our views and feelings about others. We naturally turn to people we find attractive, friendly and interesting, and turn away from those we don’t like. The position face to face can be adversarial in nature, just like a chess game. In situations that might cause tension or stress, it is better to approach gently from the side, rather than directly.

Palms

Palm gestures are so numerous that it is very difficult to give even a brief reference. Palms upward and outward are regarded as openness and friendliness. Gestures pointing down usually regarded as dominant and possibly aggressive. Position of the palm is especially important when it comes to shaking hands. Where appropriate, you have to offer a handshake when meeting new people. Palms should be vertical, which implies a sense of equality among people.

Distance

Distance is very important if you want to make the right impression. When you are standing or sitting too close to the interlocutor, it can be regarded as insolence and impudence, if too far – you may seem arrogant or stiff. Next time you will be in any group of people watch on what distance they all are from each other. If you come close to someone, and he walks away, it is likely that you have violated his comfort zone.

Mouth

Movement of the mouth can express any feelings that we experience. We compress or bite the lips when contemplating, or hiding laugh or anger that we do not want to show. However, these movements are noticed by other people, and although they may not know what you are thinking about, they may feel that you are not happy. Also, there are different types of smiles, and each of them conveys the appropriate sense. A sincere smile bares your teeth, lifts cheeks and wrinkles the corners of your eyes.

Ears

Your ears are also important, although in most cases, people can not really move them. However, since you have two ears and only one mouth, try to use them in the same ratio. If you listen twice as much as you speak then you are likely to seem a good conversationalist who knows how to have a balanced conversation.

How to Quit Vaping definitely

Maybe you’re spooked by the outbreak of respiratory illness linked to vaping. Maybe you’re just sick of giving your money to the makers of an addictive product. Either way, let’s look at what it takes to quit vaping.

Look forward

Remember – you’re not giving up anything because e-cigarettes do absolutely nothing for you at all. They provide you with no genuine pleasure or crutch, they simply keep you addicted – a slave to nicotine. Get it clearly into your mind: you are losing nothing and you are making marvellous positive gains not only in health, energy and money but also in confidence, self-respect, freedom and, most important of all, in the length and quality of your future life. You’re going to enjoy being a non-vaper right from the moment you finish your last e-cigarette.

Make a plan

It helps to know why you’re quitting. Take some time to think and maybe journal about it. Later on, you’ll be tempted to start again, because what good is quitting anyway if it makes you miserable? Have an answer ready to go. Better yet, make a list of your best reasons to quit and post it somewhere you’ll see often, like your phone’s lock screen.

Know your triggers

Anticipate cravings by knowing when you normally turn to your vape pen, and planning what you’ll do instead. This tool at smokefree.gov can help you make a plan based on when and where you tend to vape (or smoke), and what kind of cravings you tend to have. For example, if you tend to vape when you get bored, make a list of little tasks or errands you can do instead. If you do it to relax, figure out other ways to treat yourself.

Figure out who will help you

You don’t have to do this alone. While there are more resources for quitting smoking than quitting vaping, you still have plenty of options for speaking with professionals, with support groups, and for getting support from your friends and family.

Prevent Your Skin From Aging Too Fast

Even though we can’t stop our bodies from growing old, we can certainly do something to slow the aging process down. The solution to fight pesky wrinkles and saggy arms doesn’t have to be cosmetic surgeries, mother nature is full of magical gifts we can borrow to rejuvenate our skin.

Limit your sugar intake

A recent study found that consumption of sugar speeds up the aging process in human bodies and leads to dark circles, dehydration, and wrinkles. In order to fight aging, experts advise that people should limit their sugar intake and avoid sweet foods and drinks as much as they can. Stick to drinking water.

Keep your calcium levels in check

Everyone knows that calcium is good for our bones, but not many are aware that it plays a vital role in protecting us from early aging. In addition to all the good the nutrient does to our body, an adequate calcium level can reduce signs of aging and help us age more gracefully with a strong bone structure.

Make green tea your best friend

Green tea is a gift that helps your body from the inside and out. Rich in antioxidants, this beverage repairs skin cells and makes you look younger. It also soothes redness and irritation on your skin because it has anti-inflammatory properties. Consuming green tea on a regular basis will keep your skin firm and healthy. You can also place used green tea bags on your eyes for a few minutes to avoid dark circles and puffiness.

Protect yourself from the sun

The sun plays a major role in accelerating aging and the more you head out in the sun, the more you are putting yourself at risk of early aging. Tanning in the sun naturally is as bad for you as man-made tanning beds, tanning is nothing but you unknowingly aging your body prematurely. Make it a point to wear sunscreen every day. Protect yourself from the harmful UV rays of the sun by covering your body properly.

Meditate and avoid stress

Stressing too much boosts the aging process in your body. Not only that, overthinking and anxiety also lead to premature aging. Try not to let things bother you too much. Easier said than done, we know, but that’s where meditation comes in. Meditation helps in relaxing your nerves and releases happy hormones in your body which make you feel better. It is the cheapest way of preventing aging

Benefits Of Waking Up Early In The Morning

Waking up early can be as difficult as teaching a kid the multiplication table. All of us would really love to wake up early, but only a few of us manage to do so day after day. Apart from the amazing comfort and extra cosiness, your bed provides you at the time of waking up, several factors such as stress, anxiety, depression, certain medications and chronic pain can make it difficult for you to get out of the bed and start your day.

Positive Outlook

Generally if you are a night owl those morning people generally annoy you to no end. Their perky, chattering, occasionally singing selves need to understand that morning should be a time of quiet- in order for you to fully wake yourself up. But since people who rise earlier often get to bed earlier, they are more likely to have received the seven to nine hours of sleep suggested for an adult’s night’s sleep. Since sleeping the full amount of what is needed to a healthier body and mind, it makes sense that their morning positivity is directly related to their rest.

Better Problem Solvers

Obviously a rested mind is more prepared for what the day has to throw at it. Because you will be more organized and energized (as explained below), you are also more prepared to take on what life throws at you. Not only will you mood be better equipped to handle any issues that arise, but long term problems are more likely to be solved with more ease due to your brain’s ability to problem solve through the night if you are getting a good night’s rest.

More Energy

Better rest equals more energy. And early risers generally have better sleep patterns than night owls. Enough said. But not really because this is really interesting stuff: a bunch of things happen when your body finally relaxes in sleep, and all of it is beneficial to your long term physical health as well as mental health. Once you drop into deeper cycles of sleep, your blood pressure drops, breathing slows, muscles are relaxed, body temperatures drop, and the blood supply to your muscles increase. This results in tissue and bone both repair, as well as cellular corrections. Growth hormones are also released that are essential for muscle development.

More Organized

We’ve all been there: we go to sleep with an idea of what we want to be accomplished the next day, but once we rise- life happens. Simple things like a forgotten lunch, or a slow commute can seen to through off the entire day, and before you know it you are ready to throw in the towel before lunch. Rising earlier and laying out your day in advance creates a series of approachable goals that you can dive right into. Worrying about traffic and your first grader’s untied shoelaces are much more easy to deal with when you aren’t trying to remember a half dozen things while you run out the door.

Promotes better concentration

Promotes better concentration Waking up early in the morning aids in improving your concentration levels. As there are no interruptions (because the whole world would be sleeping), your brain can concentrate better and get things done more efficiently. Recent studies claim that early risers tend to perform well academically than those who love to burn the midnight oil.

Improves the quality of sleep

Keeping your body on a sleep routine benefits you by improving your sleep quality. As your body is used to the routine, it becomes easier to fall asleep and wake up early. The routine is beneficial for your body's internal clock and being on a predictable routine helps you in waking up feeling well-rested

Allows some quiet time

Those who love the silence of the mornings can even meditate by rising early. A peaceful mind can give the power to accomplish more. The silence and peace one gets during the waking hours of a day is not just soothing to your mind but also your body

Best ways to beat stress fast

Are you feeling stressed out? These days, many people are. Luckily, there are numerous ways to try to reduce stress. But how do you know which to choose when your time is already stretched to the max? That depends on the type of stress you are dealing with.
Following are sex effective ways to reduce stress when you are already totally stressed out:
Best ways to beat stress fast

Grab some food

Maybe the pressure from work means you want to get home and engulf that entire carton of ice cream that’s been waiting in the freezer? We don’t blame you. But this isn’t the kind of eating we’re talking about. Sometimes, a low blood sugar level can leave us feeling pretty stressed out, so by chowing down on a few bites of food you could soon turn that frown upside down. So it’s not just us that feels hangry after all? Just be sure not to overdo it.

Laugh it up

How can you feel stressed if you’re busy laughing? The two just don’t go hand in hand. Laughing out loud means we need to take in more air. More air means more oxygen to go to all the muscles and organs in our body which helps release endorphins in our brain. These feel-good hormones then zoom through our blood to help combat all the stress hormones whizzing around our body. The best bit? It only takes a few seconds to feel all the benefits. It’s no joke.

Get moving

Exercise is said to be the cure for many things in life. Could it really be the answer to beat stress fast? Just like laughing, exercise gets endorphins flying around your body that will fight off any signs of stress. But that’s not all. Exercise will also give you a chance to get away from whatever it is that’s causing you stress. Sometimes, a 20-minute run or yoga session is all it takes to clear our minds and get back to reality.

Think about meditation

Not all of us meditate, but there are so many benefits to the practice it can leave you wondering why you’ve never given it a go. Meditation provides us with a chance to breathe in the positivity around us as well as exhale all the negative emotions that have built up in our body. As if that wasn’t enough, these deep breaths help to lower our heart rate and combat the symptoms of stress. To top it all off, meditation can clear your mind of what was causing you the stress in the first place.

Disconnect from the world

Occasionally, we might be getting stressed out without even realizing it. Perhaps your a text message chiming through on your phone gets you worried it’s your boss? Maybe there is an email you’ve been dreading to receive, and you just heard the notification? Turning off our cell phones and enjoying the world around us can be a fast way to beat stress as we no longer feel tied to our device. Go ahead; it’s not as scary as it seems.

How to See Who Follows You on Facebook

Do you want to know who follows you on Facebook? Are you curious about how to manage your privacy settings so no one unwanted can follow you?
How to See Who Follows You on Facebook

Who can follow me on Facebook?

To find out who can follow you on Facebook, first check your privacy settings. If you have enabled the feature where users who aren’t your friends can follow you, this means that anyone in the world can see your public posts. In addition to that, anyone can have your public posts sent to their newsfeeds without being your Facebook friend. This “follow” feature is useful for business owners and public figures, but you might not want the feature enabled on your personal account that you prefer to share only with friends and family.

How to see who follows you on Facebook

If a Facebook user starts following your public posts, you will receive a notification. You can view a complete list of users that follow you by clicking into your “Friends” list under the cover photo of your Facebook profile page, then looking to the right of the screen. If you don’t have a visible tab that says “Followers,” this means you do not have any (non-friend) followers on Facebook. If you do have a “Followers” tab, then the full list of your followers will be available to you.

How to see who follows you on Facebook mobile app

If you don’t have access to a computer, it’s still possible to see who follows you on Facebook while using your phone. On the app, click onto your profile tab, then click the “See More About Yourself” button located under your About section. If you scroll down to the bottom of this new page, past your educational history, interests, and birthday, a list of your followers will be visible at the bottom. You can click “See All” in order to view the complete list of your followers.

How to see who you follow on Facebook

To find out who you follow on Facebook, follow the same steps as described above. But this time, keep your eye out for a widget that says “Following,” rather than “Followers.” If you notice that you have followed someone by accident, you can go to their profile and unfollow them using the next steps.

How can you unfollow someone on Facebook?

On Facebook, any “friend” you have is also a follower, unless they have chosen to unfollow or “hide” you on the platform. Luckily, anyone can use this unfollow tool. If you want to hide someone’s posts from your timeline, you can do so by going to the other user’s profile and clicking on the “Following” icon on their cover photo. This will open a drop-down menu where you can unfollow the user while maintaining your Facebook friendship.

How to allow followers on Facebook

To allow Facebook users to follow your public posts, go into your settings by navigating to the arrow icon in the top right corner and opening the drop-down menu. Click into your general settings, then find the “Public Posts” option in the left tab. Click into this view, and then select “Public,” in the “Who Can Follow Me” section. With this setting changed, any user with a Facebook account can follow you. Your public posts will be delivered to their timelines without the need for you to confirm a friend request.

How to Detect Hidden Cameras in Your Hotel Room

Searching for hidden cameras in hotel rooms and rentals is an emerging trend as more and more people report the invasion of privacy.
It’s a horrifying scenario — finding a hidden camera in your hotel room or vacation rental. And unfortunately, it’s also a recently emerging trend as more and more people report this invasion of privacy. Protect yourself by learning how to check for hidden cameras in your vacation rental or hotel room.

Survey the room

Look for pieces of furniture or appliances that are in unusual places, Plaxe says. For example, a lamp that’s been placed in an unusual location and appears to be specifically angled toward the bed. If you have any suspicions, report them to hotel management.

Disconnect the alarm clock

If there is a bedside clock, O’Rourke unplugs it and places it in a drawer. When it’s anchored in place, he covers it with a towel. “If the clock is returned to its place or uncovered, I either have a problem or a detail-oriented housekeeping staff,” he says.

Cover the peephole on your door

People have used peephole reversers to film inside hotel rooms. “Sports reporter Erin Andrews was victimized in this manner a decade ago, and she won a multi-million-dollar settlement in court,” O’Rourke says.

Don’t use your laptop in expected locations

You may want to take additional precautions if you’re traveling in countries where trade secrets are targeted, such as China or Russia. “Cameras may be pointed at desks to capture computer passwords and other sensitive information,” O’Rourke says. Avoid using your laptop where criminals think you will—including the hotel lobby.

Signs Your Computer Has a Virus

Think twice before you click on that link—even if it was sent to you by a friend or family member.
Protect your computer from dangerous malware with our checklist of symptoms and signs that show your computer has a virus.
Signs Your Computer Has a Virus

Slower Internet and Processing

A slower computer doesn't necessarily mean you have a virus, but if it's a sudden enough change in speed, it may be worth checking out. Use a speed test to check your internet speed and use your computer's task manager to measure processing power. If either seem slower than usual, perform a scan with your antivirus software.

Unexpected Computer Behavior

Viruses can do all kinds of strange things to your computer. If your computer stops responding to clicks, decides to open files on its own, scrolls or acts as if a key's been pressed when it hasn't, you may be experiencing computer virus symptoms. Your computer shouldn't seem like it's thinking for itself.

Missing files

Some malware cause problems by deleting files and programs or moving them around. Some may encrypt your files so you aren’t able to open them.

Sudden Freezes & Crashes

Because viruses damage your hard drive, they can cause your computer to experience a catastrophic failure. If you're lucky enough that your computer still turns on after a crash, make sure to run antivirus software to determine whether a virus was the cause.

Error Messages

Your computer knows something is wrong before you do. One of the most noticeable symptoms of a computer virus is the sudden appearance of pop-up messages warning you about missing system or application files. Research messages by putting them in a search engine to see if you can diagnose a virus.

Advertisements

It's common to see ads as you browse the internet, but if you start seeing them when you're not actively browsing, that is a telltale sign of a virus. Do not click on these ads, even if they say they are for antivirus software.

Email is hijacked

If friends start receiving emails or instant messages from your social networks asking them to click on an attachment or link, it’s likely that a virus is attempting to spread to other computers via your accounts. If so, change your passwords immediately.

Outgoing Emails

Viruses try to spread themselves by email. If you notice emails in your sent box that you didn't send, you probably have a virus. If you get an email from a friend that seems suspicious, they might have a virus. Do not click on any links or open any attachments in questionable emails.

Missing or Extra Files

Keep track of the size of your hard drive. A virus may install copies of itself or unwanted files on your computer. Viruses also delete files unexpectedly. When you start seeing something strange or missing, it's time to run a virus scan.

Why you aren’t getting enough sleep

There are many important reasons to get enough sleep every night; not only does sleep help keep you slim, but it also helps reduce your risk of heart disease and stroke. If you can't get enough healthy shut-eye every night, one of these habits could be the culprit.
Why you aren’t getting enough sleep

You don’t take a techno-break

Nope, this doesn’t involve a late-night dance to techno-music – although that might tire you out if you dance hard enough. Instead, we’re talking about the technology in our lives. Because most of us are attached to our phones, iPads, laptops and our televisions, we’re constantly bombarding our body with artificial light that stimulates our brain. Top tip: stimulating your brain before you want to go to sleep is not a good idea! These pieces of technology don’t allow our brain to wind-down, which makes it harder for us to fall asleep.

You need to upgrade your throne

A king or queen is only as good as their throne, and if your mattress is old and lumpy, it could drastically reduce your chances of having a good night’s sleep. In fact, old mattresses are a breeding ground for dust, mites, and even pointy springs. This can make your sleeping position incredibly uncomfortable. It’s important to upgrade your mattress when it reaches the end of its life (which can normally be found on the label) and change your pillows every year or so.

You ate too late

Although we all hate to think about the weird and wonderful things that go on inside our bodies, it’s important to think about digestion before you go to bed. Eating too late in the evening can disrupt your bodies normal rhythm when it comes to digestion, and this can stop you from falling into a peaceful slumber. If you can, eat earlier in the evening. If you really can’t eat any earlier, try to eat a little less for your dinner to aid easy digestion.

You’re taking too many naps

Let’s be honest, we all love a good nap – and if we could take five naps in the place of one long sleep we totally would do. However, naps can also disrupt your sleeping pattern. While taking naps at the right time and for the right amount of time can be beneficial to your day, many of us tend to oversleep when it comes to our naps and end up feeling groggy and disgusting afterward. If you cut out your nap from your daily life, your body will feel much more tired, which should mean that you can fall asleep easier and for longer. What could be better than that?

Your room just isn’t working

There’s nothing worse than settling down for a good ol’ sleep to see the outside street lights float through your drapes, the noise of the world makes its way into your room, and your pets nibbling away at your comforter. Although of these outside noises and distractions will stop your brain from switching off – which will ultimately stop yourself from falling asleep. To combat this, make sure you turn your bedroom into a sanctuary with blackout blinds, soundproofing, and absolutely no pets if you can!

10 Dangerous Smartphone Apps It’s Better to Delete

It’s no secret that some apps can eat up your phone`s storage or battery, or that some automatically charge money, collect credit card data, or share your personal information. Dozens of hazardous apps appear on the market every day, so many that not even Google Play or the App Store can track them down immediately. So, the safety of your devices and private information is mostly in your hands!!
10 Dangerous Smartphone Apps It’s Better to Delete

Built-in browsers

Built-in browsers are often pre-installed and they sometimes open automatically when you click a link. These programs do not guarantee personal data protection or protection against viruses and they significantly slow down your phone’s operating system.

Defragmentation apps

Defragmentation apps became very popular right at their inception because they are similar to the same programs on computers. But there are no hard drives on smartphones for these apps to defragment, they can only analyze how much space certain programs take up. Besides, defragmentation apps also use your phone’s resources and can collect your personal data.

Optimizers

Clean Master, and other optimizers like that take care of clearing your cache and deleting unnecessary programs. However, most modern phones  have this function in their system already which makes these apps useless. They also make the battery life shorter. You won’t make the system faster, you will only slow it down and get ads as a “bonus.”

Free games

Game development costs a lot in terms of money and effort, so if you find a free game, keep in mind that developers either added a lot of advertising to the app (which is usually saved to cache and eats up your device’s storage) or there’s a chance that they might steal and then sell your personal information. So if you really want to download a game app, make sure it’s well-known or read the user agreement.

Weather apps

Weather apps became extremely popular at first, but it was discovered that there were a lot of viruses in them. For example, there was a case when a weather app had an in-built trojan that collected the data from the owner’s phone and sent it to the attackers. For the most part, they were interested in credit card data.
The popularity of weather apps is declining now. It’s much easier and faster to check weather forecasts through a browser.

Social media

These apps also became very popular and then lost popularity very quickly. In this case, hackers have nothing to do with them, it’s just that the apps take a lot of energy and kill the battery so the smartphone itself starts lagging. For example, many Facebook users find the mobile version in the browser much easier to use than the official app.

Fast charge apps

There are countless apps that promise you they can speed up the process of charging your phone. The fact is: nothing (including the apps) can charge your phone faster than the default setting allows. These apps are just trickery, with an endless stream of ads that sometimes appear even if the screen is locked.

Wi-Fi apps

Be careful with free Wi-Fi apps that claim to provide you with a map of Wi-Fi hotspots, free Wi-Fi keys and network protection — it was discovered that some of them can be stealing your personal data, including credit card information.

Antivirus programs from unknown developers

When people started hacking phones and stealing data, mobile antivirus applications started appearing. And then, hackers had a great idea and created their own antivirus apps. These apps can steal user personal data and even completely block the phone.

Location trackers

Apps that ask to access your location not only significantly shorten your phone’s battery life, but might also use or sell your personal data. Navigation apps, delivery apps, games like Pokémon Go, and even some social media apps track your location. Take a moment to look through the apps that access your location and remove the unnecessary ones. And for those apps that you use, you can check the terms of use in the application settings and prohibit access to your location, as it’s shown below.

How Long the Human Body Could Survive on Each Planet

We live in a beautiful place, where everything is colorful and bright. But have you ever thought about to move on another planet? Or have you thought about how long people would survive on each planet. We think, each of us has a dream to appear neighboring planet. So, we prepare for you a list, where is indicated how long people would survive on each planet without a spacesuit.
How Long the Human Body Could Survive on Each Planet

Mercury

If you ever want to visit this planet and avoid unpleasant consequences, you need to a timer. The temperature swings on Mercury are just absolutely crazy, the day could reach 800ºF, while at night it drops to −290ºF. Mercury rotates relatively slowly, so in order to survive, all you need is just catch the moment when the daytime temperature changes to the nighttime temperature, something comfortable between 800ºF and −290ºF. But anyhow 90 seconds is about how much time you could spend there.

Venus

At 900 degrees Fahrenheit (482 degrees Celsius), you already know this one isn't going to be pretty. "By the way, Venus has about the same gravity as Earth, so you'd be very familiar walking around," Tyson says, "until you vaporize." Total time: Less than one second.

Mars

The next forth planet from the Sun is Mars and the second-smallest planet in the Solar System, after Mercury. Mars is named after the Roman god of war, and is often referred to as the “Red Planet”. Among other planets in our Solar System, the seasons of Mars are the most Earth-like, due to the similar tilts of the two planets’ rotational axes. The hottest temperature on Mars can reach up to 35 °C (95 °F), and the coldest Martian surface temperatures are −143 °C (−225 °F). So, on Mars you could survive without a spacesuit at maximum 2 minutes.

Jupiter

Being a gaseous planet, Jupiter would make for a uniquely uncomfortable life. On — or in? — this enormous planet, "you would descend forever into the gaseous atmosphere until you're crushed by the pressure of the planet's layers." Total time: Less than one second

Saturn

This is another space giant that will allow you to stay on it for less than one second. Apart from the gas clouds, Saturn constantly has very strong winds which can reach 1800 km per hour. Saturn creates such crazy tornadoes on its surface that no one living creature would even have time to blink before it turns into cosmic dust. You could live there less than 1 second.

Uranus, Neptune

Uranus is the seventh planet from the Sun, and the eighth planet is Neptune. Uranus has the third-largest planetary radius and fourth-largest planetary mass in the Solar System. Uranus is similar in composition to Neptune, and both have different bulk chemical composition from that of the larger gas giants Jupiter and Saturn. For this reason, scientists often classify Uranus and Neptune as “ice giants” to distinguish them from the gas giants. Uranus’s atmosphere is similar to Jupiter’s and Saturn’s in its primary composition of hydrogen and helium, but it contains more “ices” such as water, ammonia, and methane, along with traces of other hydrocarbons. Both in Uranus and Neptune you could survive less than 1 second.

How long can you drive on a spare tire ?

The spare tire enables you to drive to the nearest repair shop to have the flat tire inspected and either repaired or replaced. You should not drive over 50 mph and no more than 50 miles with a donut-type spare tire. Driving for long distances on a spare tire can potentially cause damage to other car parts, including the transmission.
How long can you drive on a spare tire ?

A Full-Size Spare

If the spare is a full-size tire, given that it is the same size and type as the ones in your vehicle, you can drive it like a regular tire and use it until it wears out. You may think that the spare tire will be like a new one if you don’t use it. This is not true. If it is in your trunk for more than 5 years, you should check it thoroughly for cracks, holes, and pressure before attaching it to the wheels.
Many pickups and SUVs carry the spare tires under or back of them. Keeping them out in the open increases the chance of damage by road debris and UV ray. In that case, inspecting them once in a month should be a regular procedure.

Donut Spare

If the spare tire is smaller in size (a donut tire), you should drive it only the distance required to cross to take the car to a service shop as you should do it as soon as possible. Some of these tires also have a maximum mileage and speed rating. Check the tire’s sidewalls for these max limits and replace it with a full-size one before crossing them.
A donut is an elementary tire that the manufacturers produce for saving space and cost. It is undersized, is built around a basic steel rim, and has very little tread. They are vulnerable and highly susceptible to all types of damage.

A Run-Flat Spare

This type is rising in popularity as the manufacturers see it as a solution between the costly full-size tires and the rudimentary donut tires. You will find them with the recent models of MINI and BMW. These are tough, built to endure most road hazards, and can go on nearly 50 miles even after a puncture. However, they are costlier than a traditional full-size tire.

Differences Between a Hostel and Hotel and motels

The differences are actually pretty small, but the prejudices are widely spread. So what is the difference between hotels, motels and hostels? Concisely, motels and hostels are subcategories of hotels. Hotels can be categorized in many ways – not just by stars but also in types. For example, you may come across the terms apartment hotels, extended stay, conference hotels, boutique hotels, budget hotels, limited service hotels, luxury hotels, and inns. And of course also motels and hostels.
Differences Between a Hostel and Hotel

Difference between motels and hotels

Motels can be defined as hotels that are located with easy access to motorway junctions. Motels are often associated with cheaper solutions, fewer facilities and lower quality. Furthermore, the traditional motels were always built in I-, L- or U-shaped buildings with a large parking area surrounding it. Motels are also associated with buildings of two floors, outdoor access, and room halls towards the parking area. We don’t really have motels in Denmark; the few properties that are close to this description are more often than not just called a hotel or an inn (although an “inn” is an even older term for a business that primarily offers food and beverages, and provides stayovers as a secondary service).

Since motels are an subcategory of hotels, the differences between the two are a bit blurry. But here we have tried to make an overview of the commonly associated differences:

  • Size: Motels are smaller than hotels
  • Service: Motels offer fewer services than hotels
  • Facilities: Motels have fewer facilities than hotels
  • Location: Motels are located near motorways while hotels have more central locations in cities
  • Communal space: Motels often have no communal space except for a small reception for checking in
  • Quality: Motels use lower quality products for building and designing to maintain low prices
  • Price: Motels are cheaper than hotels

Difference between hostels and hotels

Hostels are a cheaper and more social hotel category than many others. Cheaper because you rent a bed instead of a room. More social because you sleep in the same room as others and because of good social facilities to meet other travelers. Hostels are mostly used by young people with limited budgets that do not mind saving money at the expense of privacy. The many young guests, the desire to travel, and the open minded culture make hostels informal spaces between staff and guests.

Again, we have to mention that hostels are a subcategory of hotels, but in comparison to motels, it is much easier to characterize the differences between a hotel and a hostel. Here is an overview of the most obvious differences between the two:
  • Size: Hostels calculate their size by number of beds instead of rooms
  • Service: Hostels often have more self-service options than hotels
  • Facilities: Hostels often have fewer but more social facilities than hotels
  • Location: Hostels are usually found in cities and near nature
  • Atmosphere: Hostels have a more informal atmosphere than hotels
  • Quality: Hostels are often of lower quality, but the modernized hostels have higher quality in communal spaces
  • Price: Hostels are cheaper than hotels

There’s nothing worse than settling down for a good ol’ sleep to see the outside street lights float through your drapes, the noise of the world makes its way into your room, and your pets nibbling away at your comforter. Although of these outside noises and distractions will stop your brain from switching off – which will ultimately stop yourself from falling asleep. To combat this, make sure you turn your bedroom into a sanctuary with blackout blinds, soundproofing, and absolutely no pets if you can!
