How Novak Djokovic acquired his fortune and how he invests his millions

Djokovic has earned approximately $134 million in prize money alone since turning professional in 2003.
The 31-year-old’s income is further enhanced by sponsorship deals with Lacoste, Head, ASICS and watchmaker Seiko.
Overall, his total wealth is estimated to be around $200 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.
Here's how Novak Djokovic wins and spends his money:

  • In 2019, Novak Djokovic earned $ 9.1 million (€ 1.7 million) on the court, more than any other tennis player.
  • Over the course of his career, he has won more than $ 134 million, making him the highest paid tennis player of all time.
  • However, he earns most of his money off the court. Forbes estimated that in July 2019, Novak Djokovic had won $ 50m (€ 45m) over the past year. This would mean that he has won more than $ 40 million (€ 36 million) in sponsorship contracts.
  • His sponsors include Seiko, Lacoste, Asics and Ultimate Software Group.
  • In 2013, he wrote a book on nutrition and lifestyle titled 'Serving to Win: The Gluten-Free 14-Day Plan for Physical and Mental Excellence' on the diet that changed his career.
  • Novak Djokovic takes his diet very seriously. He launched his own gluten-free food line called 'Djokolife'.
  • He owns a chain of restaurants called 'Novak Cafe & Restaurant' which has restaurants in Belgrade, Novi Beograd and Kopaonik in his native Serbia.
  • He also opened a vegan restaurant in Monte Carlo called Eqvita, but it now seems closed.
  • Novak Djokovic has also embarked on the entertainment industry. He is Executive Producer of the movie 'The Game Changers', a documentary about athlete nutrition.
  • He also appeared in a documentary series entitled 'Transcendence', which deals with physical, mental and emotional health.
  • Novak Djokovic does not lead a flashy life, but he used some of his money to invest in real estate. He owns a two-bedroom apartment in Monte Carlo, one of the most expensive real estate markets in the world.
  • Since then, he has expanded his real estate wealth. In 2017, he bought two apartments in SoHo, New York City, for $ 10 million.
  • In 2019, Novak Djokovic bought a luxury 3 bedroom apartment in Miami valued at more than $ 9 million.
  • Novak Djokovic and his family own a company called Family Sport, which, according to his website, is a company specializing in the organization of events.
  • In 2009, Family Sports bought the Dutch Open and turned it into a Serbia Open. The competition lasted 4 years before being bought by ATP.
  • Novak Djokovic regularly uses a $ 75,000 pressurized egg called CVAC Pod, which is supposed to increase muscle tone, decrease lactic acid and stimulate stem cell production.

Here are the things to never eat in a restaurant

From drastically overpriced to downright dirty, there are some menu items to never order at a restaurant, no matter how much you love the place. We spoke to food safety experts, dietitians, and chefs and compiled a list of things you should completely avoid on your next meal out.
food , restaurant , never eat , poisoning

Free bar snacks

Since these nuts, pretzels, and other munchies are free of charge, restaurants and bars often don’t set out a fresh serving for each new customer. It’s like eating out of a stranger’s hand! Then at closing time, they’re dumped back into a container, to be re-poured into dishes the next day.

The value meal

It can be tempting to order off the value menu at a fast food restaurant to get the most bang for your buck. But one double cheeseburger, fries, and drink could add up to 1,100 calories and nearly 50 grams of fat. And chowing down may have immediate consequences. After healthy people ate a high-fat meal, their blood pressure was higher when  compared to when face with a stressor they ate a low-fat one, found research from the Journal of Nutrition.

Raw Oysters

Raw Oysters
Candess Zona-Mendolla, a food safety advocate and editor of MakeFoodSafe.com, says raw oysters are one of the riskiest choices on the menu at even the best fresh seafood joints. “These mollusks are carriers of two scary foodborne illnesses—Norovirus and Vibrio. Ever heard about flesh-eating bacteria? That’s Vibrio. We see a rise in cases during the summer months, as Vibrio loves warm waters. If oysters have been cooked, they are a-ok to eat.” Google a picture, and we promise raw seafood won’t be on your dinner plate for a long time.r plate for a long time.

Meat with the bone in

Meat with the bone in
Small cuts of meat, like bone-in pork or chicken breasts, are harder to cook thoroughly because their outsides easily char. This often translates to crispy on the outside and raw on the inside. Unlike undercooked beef—say, a rare burger or a steak tartare—undercooked pork and chicken are highly dangerous and could cause food-borne illnesses, according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

Bottled Ketchup on the Table

Former server Aaron Norris says condiments, especially ketchup in glass jars, is always something to avoid. The restaurant staff often spends hours at the end of long shifts marrying partially empty bottles, so there’s no way to tell how long the stuff at the bottom has been there…leading to sour and sometimes even explosive ketchup.

Bread with olive oil

Bread with olive oil
If you can dip responsibly, feel free to ignore this tip. But most of us are mopping up olive oil with hunks of bread, polishing off hundreds of calories before the meal even starts, says Joan Salge Blake, RD, a clinical associate professor at Boston University and the author of the textbook Nutrition & You. Because olive oil is good for your health, you may think of it as a “free” food, she points out. However, tablespoon for tablespoon, it contains more calories than butter. “And you tend to go easier on butter,” she says.

Meatloaf

First, there’s often more filler than meat, but restaurants think if they drown the dish in enough sauce and seasoning, you won’t notice. To help sell it further, many menus use descriptive words like “homemade,” “home-cooked,” “home-style,” or worst of all, “Mom’s.” Don’t insult your mama!

Never Order Fish on a Monday

In Anthony Bourdain’s Kitchen Confidential, he wrote that it’s likely that your Monday fish special can include fillets that are three days old. Bourdain, who spent most of his culinary career in New York City kitchens, said in the book that since most seafood markets aren’t open on weekends, Monday’s fish is old and, well, fishy.

The Soup Special

A soup special is a perfect way to disguise the scraps from yesterday’s leftovers as a new and fresh dish today…and tomorrow.

Ice cream

Unless it’s exotic or made in-house, it’s not worth your time, money, or caloric intake. “The idea of dropping big dollars in a restaurant to pay for the same brand I can get from the local grocery doesn’t make me want any,” says Mark Ladisky, senior operations consultant for Synergy Restaurant Consultants.

Drinks with free refills

Having seltzer? Fine. Black coffee? Also good (just limit yourself to about three cups). But soda or sweetened iced tea? Not so much. A soda at a popular restaurant chain packs around 120 calories. Not bad—until you consider it has 33 grams of sugar, the equivalent of more than 8 teaspoons of the white stuff. Get one refill or two, and you’ve suddenly sucked down 24 teaspoons of sugar. That’s four times the amount of added sugar the American Heart Association recommends women have in an entire day.

Chips and salsa

The problem isn’t eating a few chips—or dipping them in salsa, which is actually loaded with healthful antioxidants. It’s that, at many restaurants, the basket is bottomless. “Our natural inclination is to eat and drink what is in front of us, but with such an abundance of food, we need to build in restraints that prevent us from overdoing it,” says Dr. Cohen. “We are designed to be able to consume more than we need.” Since it’s exhausting to battle biology, ask the server to hold the chips and salsa.

The Body Part You Clean First Says a Lot About Your Personality

Early morning routines often begin with bathing for most people. However, the way we bathe is never the same. We might not have noticed, but there is a tendency in all of us to start the bathing with a certain body part. Subconsciously, the decision is made by our body and it tells a lot about our personality.
The Body Part You Clean First Says a Lot About Your Personality

#Hair

If it is, then that shows how you view life from the top to the bottom. You’re a very structured, organized, and methodical person. Rather than skipping around, you go straight to what’s most important first.
You probably also prioritize thinking over feeling, relying on your brain and rational side to see the world. This attention to your hair also shows that you are practically oriented, since it’s the thing that most people notice first.

#Chest

It’s all about confidence for you when you find yourself gravitating towards your chest immediately when you step into the shower. It’s likely that you are very much comfortable in your own skin whenever you start scrubbing your chest when you are taking a bath. You are someone who likes to be very straightforward about your thoughts and opinions. And you also have a very pragmatic personality.
You are very independent and people are often inspired by your self-sufficient personality. You are a go-getter who always works hard for what you want.

#Face

If you wash your face first, you’re probably a sensory person. You particularly enjoy the feeling of being clean and presentable to others. Seeing as your face is such a huge part of who you are and how you’re seen, this makes a lot of sense. That’s why we say, “put your best face forward.”
While someone who focuses on their hair understands the element of performance that goes into being in public, if you wash your face straight away, this might show some undue concern and even anxiety about how others see you. Your sense of self is very wrapped up in appearances.

#Private Organs

It’s very interesting when you wash your private parts first because it’s not really what most people would think of when they picture you in the shower. You are someone who has a very shy and reserved personality. In fact, you might be so shy to the point that you might even have a few self-esteem issues.
You are someone who has a difficult time standing up for yourself. But you are also someone who is very capable of making the people around you feel comfortable with your company.

#Shoulders and Neck

The most hardworking people often wash their neck and shoulder area first. Shoulders denote burden and you always want to get rid of the burden of achieving everything with perfection. You are a positive person and a go-getter and also expect the same from others. You are very competitive and want to be a step ahead of everyone else.

#back first

You are someone who watches your back… literally. You find it very hard to be trusting of other people. You don’t typically like to let other people into your life so quickly or so easily. This is probably because of the traumatic experience of betrayal that you have had in the past.

#arms or legs first

If you are among those who pay attention to their feet first, you can call yourself a humble and down to earth person. However, there is another side to this. Arms or legs are also the symbols of strength and willpower. Thus, washing them first indicates that you have no fear of expressing your choices. You either hate something or love it.
If you tend to wash your armpits first, you are most likely popular in your social circles as a reliable and trustworthy person. You are also the one who isn’t afraid of hard work.

What Do Your Eating Habits Say About You ? ( amazing )

Do you eat lunch with your work colleagues? Do you chow down on dinner with your family? You’ve probably noticed that we’ve all got our own unique style when it comes to eating our food. Some people hate to share, some people pretty much inhale their food, and others take their time, cutting everything into bite-sized portions.
Eating is instinctive. So, it may not surprise you to learn that the way you eat can reveal numerous tasty little morsels about your personality.

If you like to eat only one thing at a time, then you are a pretty methodical thinker. You may be a perfectionist, which means your organization is highly appreciated by your friends and co-workers. However, relationships may suffer because of your rigid thinking. Be open to suggestion.

If you're into mixing foods together

A mixer usually combines all the food on their plate and takes a bite that includes a little bit of everything. These people are usually outgoing and friendly and they like taking on multiple responsibilities at their workplace. They love their job, but they know how to make time for their loved ones, and they usually create healthy relationships. However, sometimes their over-eagerness to multitask can exhaust them and make them lose track of deadlines, and their minds, over the extra amount of work.

The Spicy Eater

Spicy eaters are thrill seekers. They love adventure and they will always be there for you. These spice maniacs always want some daring feat to accomplish in life and love to live life off the edge. Just like your spice friend’s quench of taste of a chilly, they love traveling and exploring and are pragmatic.

If you enjoy eating bitter food

People who love eating bitter food are those whose first impression about someone are usually negative. Though it evens out eventually, they are reluctant in making new friends. Nonetheless, these people are also the first ones to anticipate something bad.

What Caused the Amazon Rainforest Fires ?

At 3pm on Monday, Brazil’s largest city, São Paolo, plunged into darkness as a result of smoke from ongoing fires destroying the Amazon rainforest—thousands of miles away. This year, Brazil is witnessing a record number of wildfires. And the country’s president, Jair Bolsonaro, has said the country’s government lacks the resources to put these fires out, creating more concern surrounding rainforest damage and devastation to lands belonging to indigenous people.

But what exactly caused these fires to begin with? It’s fairly simple, and predictably, a source of debate between environmentalists and one politician.

What’s causing these fires?
Man-made deforestation. As CNN reports, both environmentalist groups and researchers agree that local cattle ranchers, farmers, and loggers have intentionally lit fires to clear the land for cattle (and have been incentivized to do so by Brazil’s pro-business/climate-skeptic president).

In a statement to the New York Times, a government agency stated that more than 1,330 square miles of forest cover have been cleared since the start of 2019 (a 39 percent increase as compared to this time last year). Generally, these fires are linked to Brazil’s reliance on beef production; the country provides nearly 20 percent of the world’s beef exports.

Meanwhile, Bolsanaro has blamed non-profit groups, arguing that they’ve lit fires to “embarrass” the government after he cut their funding earlier this year (he has yet to offer evidence to back up these claims).

As for arguments of climate change’s role in the fires, it certainly isn’t helping, but it’s very unlikely there’s any connection (though it could make fires worse and create hotter and drier conditions overall).

How many fires are there right now?
As of last week, there were an estimated 9,000 wildfires. As BBC reports, Brazil has seen a record number of forest fires already in 2019—more than 75,000 have been recorded so far (as compared to 40,000 during the same period last year, which is still a lot). July and August also mark the beginning of a drier season in the Amazon, leaving it more vulnerable to fires than during wetter months.

Why should I care?
The Amazon rainforest is considered our planet’s “lungs.” It absorbs millions of tons of carbon emissions and produces an estimated 20 percent of oxygen in our atmosphere. Worse, it’s emitting smoke and carbon to surrounding areas and endangering plants, animals, and indigenous people that live in its basin.

How to spot scams on Airbnb

Our expert advice will help you make sure your holiday accommodation really exists
Listings with the host’s email or phone number
This is a dead giveaway. Both Airbnb and Holiday Lettings ban direct contact outside of their mail systems to deter fraudsters (and protect their commission). They are able to detect and automatically remove obvious attempts to include email addresses, but fraudsters have found ways to beat these checks – for example, by adding an email to the property photo or description and suggesting you contact them directly, often to get a better deal.

Hosts that suggest you avoid paying through the website
Avoid any listing that asks you to pay outside of internal systems. The most common scam is to ask people to send payment by bank transfer.

URLs sent by email
We’ve seen several imitation Airbnb websites set up by scammers that look utterly convincing. If you’re asked to log into your account via email, go to airbnb.co.uk or holidaylettings.co.uk and do it there. Don’t click on 5airbnb.com or any other similar-looking URL.

Properties that look too good, or too cheap, to be true
They probably are. Try a reverse image search on photos of the property (on Chrome browsers, right click on the image on your mouse and choose ‘search Google for image’). Many scammers use the same picture for several listings. If you find the same picture being used for several properties, it’s probably a scam.

Other names on the 2018 list included Adam Sandler, who banked $39 million thanks to a lucrative deal with Netflix and Jackie Chan, whose $45 million paycheck came from seven movies and several product endorsements.

Here’s the Secret That Makes KFC’s Fried Chicken So Crispy

Nothing says comfort food quite like a bucket of fried chicken. Here are some fried chicken recipes that you’ll really be able to sink your teeth into. But few places do it better than the aptly-named Kentucky Fried Chicken, especially when paired with creamy mashed potatoes and a buttery biscuit.

What sets Kentucky Fried Chicken apart from the rest? It’s not just their affordable prices and convenience, it’s also how crispy they’re able to make their chicken (there’s a reason it’s called extra crispy!). Now, you can recreate KFC’s secret recipe at home by following the steps below. We bet you won’t even be able to taste a difference. And make sure you know the 50 things food manufacturers will never tell you.

11 Secret Spices
To really nail the traditional flavor of Kentucky Fried Chicken, it’s all about their 11-spice seasoning blend. Combine KFC’s secret recipe for its breading with two cups of flour to thoroughly coat your chicken pieces after dipping in an egg and milk wash.

  • 2/3 tablespoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons white pepper
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • 1/2 tablespoon basil
  • 1 tablespoon celery salt
  • 1 tablespoon dried mustard
  • 2 tablespoons garlic salt
  • 1 tablespoon ground ginger
  • 1/3 tablespoon oregano
  • 4 tablespoons paprika
  • 1/2 tablespoon thyme

Fry immediately
Some insist that you should let the coated chicken sit before frying. Not at KFC—their rule is “from flour to fryer.” If the chicken is left to sit, the breading will soften for a less-than-crispy result and the skin will fall off the chicken too easily.

All about the fryer
KFC swears by high temperature, industrial-strength pressure fryers for their extra-crispy skin. While you won’t be able at deep fry with your at home pressure cooker, you can still recreate the KFC crunch with a deep fryer, a Dutch oven or heavy-bottomed pot. Simply heat your oil to 350 or 360 degrees and leave each piece in for exactly 12 minutes.

The real secret ingredient
According to Ron Douglas, author of America’s Most Wanted Recipes, the real key to the perfect crispy texture is one thing: Accent, which is monosodium glutamate (MSG) flavor enhancer. You can add this into your seasoning mix before breading or sprinkle it on the chicken after frying. Regardless, it’s a must.

Take a rest
Biting into a piece of chicken right out of the fryer isn’t the smartest idea. At Kentucky Fried Chicken, they “hold” the chicken in an oven set to 175 degrees for about 20 minutes according to a former employee. This allows the chicken to finish cooking while keeping it warm and the skin crunchy. Do the same by holding your fried chicken in a warm oven for a few minutes.

A Messy Desk Is a Sign of Genius

The saying that cleanliness is next to Godliness might not be totally accurate. Although society praises decluttering and organizing, the reality of your workspace cleanliness could have a huge, subconscious impact on how you think. And if you're a messy person, and have a desk to match, you're probably a genius.
According to a University of Minnesota study, a neat and tidy desk is more likely to make workers do what’s expected of them—in this case, donating some money to charity when given the option, and opting to snack on a healthy apple instead of a junky candy bar. You can see this theory in practice among staid, sterile environments like your doctor’s waiting room, or any given Apple Store (a clean, symmetrical environment that psychologically insists you don’t, ironically, “think different”).

But a messy desk, the research suggests, is far from useless clutter. When asked to brainstorm new uses for an old product (ping pong balls, in the study), workers in disorderly spaces consistently generated more innovative and creative ideas than their organized counterparts. Simply put: creativity loves chaos. And creativity is a hallmark of most geniuses, according to Arif Dalvi, MD, MBA, of the Palm Beach Neuroscience Institute. Having a messy desk is one of the signs you’re smarter than you think.

The idea that a little clutter is good for the mind is consistent with anecdotal evidence, too. For starters, take a look at Einstein’s brilliant mess of a desk, along with a messy heap of other creativity studies. To name one notable example, researchers at the University of British Columbia discovered the average level of sound at a bustling coffee shop—70 decibels—distracts your brain just enough to quiet your internal censors and make way for more abstract thought (long story short: you are literally more creative in coffee shops). A similar mechanism could be in effect when faced with the visual “background noise” of a messy desk. All the junk in your periphery gives the front of your mind something to subtly process without becoming too distracted, potentially providing more room for your weirder thoughts to creep out.

“We are all exposed to various kinds of settings, such as in our office space, our homes, our cars, even on the Internet,” study co-author Kathleen Vohs concludes. “Whether you have control over the tidiness of the environment or not, you are exposed to it and our research shows it can affect you.” There are even more positive benefits of being messy.

Having A Clean House Is Better Than Sex, Says New Study

Whether you consider yourself a neat freak, slightly cluttered, or a total slob, you can’t deny the fact that there’s a bit of catharsis that comes along with having a clean living space. In fact, so many people appreciate that simple pleasure that they’d rather have a tidy house than hot sex.

Cleanliness Above All Else

Decluttr.com, a site that purchases your old tech devices, conducted a survey with a sample of 1,000 people. Of this group, 44% admitted they would prefer a clean home over having mind-blowing intercourse. Um, okay. No offense, but really? Not only that, but these same people thought that a clean home was a bigger factor in a healthy relationship than their level of intimacy.

It gets crazier

For those participants who said they valued cleanliness more than sex, they also admitted that they’d literally rather live with their parents again than have to live in a dirty house. That’s a pretty strong statement, for sure.

A Cleaner Home Can Improve Your Intimate Life

The study also revealed that 60% of the group experience an increase in their arousal levels after cleaning. Clearly, I must be cleaning wrong. When I’m done, all I want to do is lay around being lazy.

The Secret? It Does Make Sense

Clutter draws our attention, increasing our stress levels. Stress does have a negative effect on arousal levels. This is due to a chemical called cortisol, which is considered the stress hormone. One expert stated that clutter and a dirty environment can cause a reduction in our energy levels, which totally makes sense! The larger the mess, the more overwhelming it can feel.

Cleaning is necessary for a balanced life

Having a clean home has a variety of benefits. Not only will it make you feel less stressed, it can also help you feel more creative and inspirational, which is good for people like me who make a living off our creativity. In addition, it can make you more frisky, which your partner will enjoy. Who knows. If you let them in on your secret, they might start helping with chores so they can keep getting lucky. Don’t laugh. I can at least dream.

How traveling can actually benefit your health

Traveling is one of the best things that you can do for your health. It helps your physical and mental health, with many travelers saying that it’s also excellent for the soul.
Sure, there are some stressful and worrying moments. But overall, when you get out on the road and visit new countries you gain in far more ways. This isn’t about just international travel, either. Traveling your own country and being a tourist in your own town can be so beneficially at the same time.
There are no limits when it comes to traveling, except for what you can afford. You can sight-see around some of your most dreamed about countries or choose exotic adventures. Go by rails, car, or even by boat. There are just so many options, and they will all help you in ways that you have never imagined.
It’s time to save up and plan your next vacation (before you check your rehab report). Get out the itinerary and start enjoying your life in ways so many travelers do. Here are reasons traveling is so good for the health, both mentally and physically.

Provides creative inspiration

Are you a creative individual? If so, you might be familiar with the stereotype of writers and artists traveling to new countries for inspiration. It turns out that there’s some logic in that. Environment and experience are hugely influential on the brain, which means that a change of scenery can improve creativity. People who fully immerse themselves in new and unfamiliar cultures are the most likely to find this inspiration. Next time you go traveling, make sure to get involved in as much as you can.

Reduces cognitive deterioration

Were you aware that traveling can slow down brain degeneration? All these new experiences that are providing you with creative inspiration are also challenging your mind. This forces your brain to build up its resilience, which improves memory and concentration, as well as reducing the onset of degenerative diseases. Just make sure that whenever you go traveling you always go somewhere new. If you visit the same place every year, you’ll stop challenging your brain.

Better heart health

Ever had that stressful experience of running across the airport to make your flight? What about climbing several thousand meters up a mountain just to see the nice views? Traveling offers a wealth of different opportunities to get your blood pumping, good and bad. All of this exercise reduces your blood pressure, which is good for keeping your heart fit and healthy. Your feet might not appreciate all the walking you do on your travels, but your body will.

Greater connectivity with others

Do you go traveling alone or with others? No matter how you prefer to do things, there’s a good chance that you’ll meet new people along the way. Whether they’re locals or other travelers, these are people that you’d never normally cross paths with. It’s good to improve your social connections, no matter the situation, because it can have a good effect on your mental health. It can also make you more confident and give you a better sense of who you are as a person.

Travel relieves stress and boosts mental health

The most obvious and potentially most important health benefit of traveling is stress reduction. Traveling has the ability to take you out of our daily routine and into new surroundings and experiences and this can reset your body and mind.
Even planning a trip can have a fantastic effect on the body – it boosts happiness and feels rewarding. Not only does travel reduce stress but it expands the mind. Meeting new people and adapting to new situations makes one more globally and culturally aware. This keeps the mind sharp, increases creativity and helps with personal growth.

10 things to do just before going to bed

Sleep is a precious commodity. Poor sleep habits can make you grumpy and irritable, lower your immune system and even make you fat. these before-bed tasks should set you on the path for getting up on the right side of the bed every day :

Have a shower or bath

Your body’s temperature is at its lowest during deep sleep. A hot bath (or shower) will cause your body’s internal thermostat into overdrive to maintain temperature, and induce drowsiness.

Drink hot milk

An old fashioned and still effective sleeping potion is a mug of hot milk. Milk contains tryptophan, an amino acid that converts to serotonin, the calming neurotransmitter. Add a sprinkle of sedating nutmeg.

Power down your devices

Give yourself a short break from your phones, tablets, computers, and screens in general before you go to bed. Freeing up some head space allows you to wind down from the day and just be. (Not to mention that blue light before bed is not great for sleep.)

Make sure your bedroom is dark

Our cavemen ancestors knew that night-time meant sleep time. Light pollution from street lights or even illuminated clocks can negatively impact your sleep. Darken your bedroom cave with block out curtains.

Make a brain dump

Racing thoughts can keep you from falling asleep or could keep you awake if you wake in the middle of the night. Prevent both by getting that ticker tape of thoughts out of your head and onto paper.

Focus on your senses

Take a few minutes to become aware of your body by focusing on your sense of sound, sight, smell, touch, or taste. This might be a mini ritual you do every night, such as purposefully enjoying the scent and sensation of your face wash or turning on a warm glowing diffuser with a favorite essential oil. Paying attention in this way will ground you and help shut out disruptive internal and external noise.

Embrace essential oils

Aromatherapist Fiona Carr recommends the following essential oils to help even the most severe insomniac. Try Vetiver, chamomile, neroli, lavender and sandalwood oil. Add a few drops to your bath or a vaporiser.

Plan your next day.

That’s a simple and quick thing many leaders do each night and it helps them to get ready for the next day and know what they have to do right after they wake up, so that they won’t waste any time and can just start working on it.
So spare a few minutes to make a to-do list, think of all the tasks – big or small – you need to get done tomorrow, even the non-essential ones.
This way you won’t need to remember anything and will know exactly how the next day will go.

Spend time with a loved one

Are you restless because you’re anticipating a rough day? There’s nothing like the soothing voice of (or hugs from) a trusted friend or family member. If you know you’re going to have a challenging work day, make time to talk on the phone or in person with someone who encourages you. Reminding yourself of the love and support you have can put your mind at ease.

Relax your eyes

After long days, mostly in front of a screen, whether it’s a computer, laptop, TV, cell phone, I spend most of my days looking at a screen. And many nights my eyes get so tired they hurt. A tip I use: I put both hands like creating a spoon feeling in front of my open eyes. Keep tweeking your hands until you can see no light coming in. That’s simple, and very relaxing. I do it for 30 seconds and it works wonders.

7 Body Parts You Could Sell

Now that I have your attention, I’ll tell you the good news and the bad news.
The good news is that you can sell your body parts or the use of your body and make some serious extra cash, and do so in perfectly legal ways.
The bad news is that you might only qualify for a couple of the methods listed below.
And sadly, it seems that our bodies are not all equal in terms of how other people value them…

Hair

People with hair loss issues often seek wigs made of real human hair instead of synthetic hair. Hair that is long and has not been altered by salon processes (aka “virgin hair”) is the most sought after and fetches the highest price. According to BBC, one 12-year-old girl from Brazil was poised to sell five feet of hair for around $5,000 dollars.

Breast Milk

If a woman finds that she is producing insane amounts of breast milk, she shouldn’t let that precious leche go to waste and should instead put those mammaries to work. Breast milk is perfectly legal to sell in the United States and a month’s supply of the good stuff can net anywhere from $300-1200.

Sperm

Most people already know that sperm donation can bring in some extra cash, but just how much exactly? According to one of the best sperm bank facilities in the country, California Cryobank, a man can earn up to $1,500 per month once he qualifies to become a sperm donor. Approved donors must make a donation at least once a week, usually for a period of up to a year.

Platelets

Platelets are blood cells that help control and stop bleeding by forming scabs when you are injured. Again, it’s different from simply donating blood but like donating plasma, platelets regenerate quickly meaning you can donate often. Compensation depends on your weight and how frequently you donate. You can expect anywhere from $20-35.

Eggs

A woman can bring home a lot of money if she is willing to sell her eggs. Egg donation is a much more lengthy and intrusive process than sperm donation, which is why the earnings are exponentially greater. The Center for Human Reproduction reports that for the typical egg retrieval cycle, which takes three to four weeks, a woman is compensated $8,000. Earnings could be greater depending on the donor.

The womb

Becoming a surrogate for another woman is an extremely emotionally and physically taxing job, but because of that, it essentially comes with its own salary. In California, the legal base pay for a first-time surrogate is $50,000 dollars as well as compensation for any other incurred expenses.

Bone marrow

bone marrow donations can be life-saving. However, because the process of donating bone marrow is lengthier and a bit more arduous, compensation can vary anywhere from hundreds to thousands of dollars.

7 First Aid Tips

First Aid is one of those tricky skills that you rarely ever need…until, suddenly, you do. Even small medical accidents can be stressful, but knowing how to react can keep a minor problem from taking a turn for the worse.
Here are 7 tips to keep in mind the next time you face any of the following:
For Minor Burns
To treat them, rinse the wound with lukewarm water. While ice water might seem more obvious, it can actually cause more tissue damage. After cleaning the burn, apply an ice pack or cold compress. Using butter or grease is an old folk remedy, but that can actually cause more damage to the wound because it slows down the release of the heat. A paste made by mixing water and baking soda can also help to release the heat from the burn.

For Cuts and Scrapes
Use gentle pressure to stop the bleeding. If the bleeding hasn’t slowed after 20 to 30 minutes of pressure, seek additional medical attention.
Clean the scrape with water, but avoid getting soap in an open wound. Apply an antibiotic (like Neosporin) and cover with a bandage.

For Jellyfish stings
You can try to rinse the wound with salt water. You can also rinse with hot water, vinegar, or cover the wound with a solution of baking soda and water. Activated charcoal can also help draw out the jellyfish venom. You may have heard the popular urban legend that urine can be used to treat jellyfish stings. Realistically, urine usually does not have enough acid to counteract the venom.

For Heart attacks
Chewing an aspirin can help because it will inhibit the blood platelets that cause blood clotting, which is what blocks your arteries. When taking aspirin, it is important to take small doses and to chew the pill instead of swallowing it or taking it with water, since this will help it work faster. Try to contact emergency services as soon as possible.

For Heat Exhaustion
Get out of the heat immediately and lay down with feet and legs elevated. Replenish fluids and place a cool cloth on the forehead or back of the neck.
Make sure to monitor symptoms to ensure heat exhaustion doesn’t turn into heat stroke. Seek immediate medical attention if fainting, confusion, or high fever occurs.

For Bee Stings
Assuming there isn’t an allergy to contend with, remove the stinger and apply a cold pack or cloth to reduce swelling.
Hydrocortisone or lidocaine creams can help minimize pain and itching.

For Sprained Ligaments
Though sprains can be painful, they are usually minor and can be easily treated without medical intervention. The first step is to avoid putting any weight or using the affected limb.
Use ice and compression at regular intervals throughout the day and elevate the injured limb above your heart to reduce swelling.

Bald Guys Are More Intelligent

While there are a lot of males who feel that less hair might equal less confidence, that’s not always the case. There’s a new study that proves that bald men are indeed more confident, intelligent and dominant than their full set of hair counterparts.

Bald guys are perceived to be more socially dominant.

A study conducted by Professor Dr. Frank Muscarella from Barry University showed that bald men are perceived as being more socially dominant in comparison with other men. The researchers found out that although people see men with hair as more physically attractive, bald men are more likely to be perceived as the ones with a higher social status: people claimed that they see them as more dominant and superior, but didn’t feel any threat in comparison to men with hair.

During the research, Dr. Frank Muscarella asked the focus group to rate male participants in accordance with 4 criteria: attractiveness, aggressiveness, appeasement, and maturity. Some people were shown the photos of men who had a head full of hair and the other part of the group saw the pictures of the same men but with their hair completely digitally removed. The results turned out to be quite unexpected: bald men were rated as more honest, intelligent, and masculine.

Several studies have proven that these results are correct.

The findings of Dr. Frank Muscarella were backed up by research from the University of Pennsylvania. Psychologist Albert E. Mannes proved that people tend to see bald men as stronger, more dominant, and successful.

But bald men are not just perceived as strong and sexy, they are seen as smart too. Researchers from the University of Saarland analyzed data based on the opinion poll of 20,000 people. The results showed that bald men are more often perceived as older, but people see them as wiser and more intelligent.

Why are more people starting to work from home?

Starting a full or part-time home business is a major decision that requires research and planning that can seem daunting. But before you put off or dismiss doing it, consider these reasons why you should work at home.

No more travel

The daily commute is something that brings many of us down. After all, who wants to be sat on the subway for hours? Or get stuck in traffic with no way to get around all the cars trying to go the same direction? Working from home means you no longer have the stress of travel time. This frees up hours of the day, as well as saving money on all the expensive tickets or gas prices.

Less time off

Being stuck in an office can be the perfect breeding ground for germs. And germs mean getting sick. Eww. If you are at home and away from the outside world, you are much less likely to catch an illness. Plus, even if home workers do get sick, they may be more inclined to work. Why? Because they are in the comfort of their bed and can take the day at their own pace!

Make Money Doing Something You Love

One of the best aspects of starting a home business is being able to turn a hobby or a passion into income. In fact, you're more likely to achieve success if you focus on pursuing your passion for profits when starting a home business.

Better talent options

Working at home means you aren’t confined to the people that can make it into the office every day. The internet is a big ol’ place, and now you can work with just about anyone in the world. This means there is more talent at your fingertips. Imagine the amount of information you could learn from people all around the world rather than the ones that live close enough to work? The opportunities are endless.

Tax Benefits

A big perk of working for yourself is the tax advantages not given to employees. You can write off equipment, supplies, services, and even a portion of your home or car if it's appropriate.
Further, when you have a home business, you can deduct your expenses first and pay taxes on net income. With that said, it's important to learn about home business deductions to ensure you're following proper tax laws. Ideally, you should consult a tax expert.

No Boss

A home business is ideal for someone who doesn't like to be told what to do. You can do the work in the way you feel is best. Further, home business owners don't have to feel guilty for showing up late (unless of course, it's to an appointment). There's no having to ask for time off or calling in sick. There's no one looking over your shoulder to make sure you're working.

More Opportunity for Growth

Too often, employees end up feeling stuck in their jobs. In a home business, even if your day-to-day tasks are relatively similar, there are so many opportunities to mix things up more. You can work from a different location. You can change your schedule or the order of the tasks you have to do.

Man wins lottery 14 times - this is how he did it

Everyone wants to win in lotto, but few of us ever manage to do it.
Whether you'd buy a house or go on holiday, unfortunately winning that life-changing sum depends on dumb luck for the vast majority of us.
A Romanian-Australian economist named Stefan Mandel did what many could only dream of doing - not only did he win the lottery, but he did so 14 times.
It might be completely confusing and way over our heads, but Stefan has revealed how he managed to pull it all off.

  • Work out the total number of possible combinations. Which is a grand total of 3,838,380 combinations!
  • Get yourself a lottery where the jackpot is three times or more the number of possible combinations.
  • Here's the catch... Get together enough money to pay for each combination. Stefan himself got 2,524 investors together in his bid to win the Virginia lottery.
  • Print out millions of tickets with every combination.
  • And finally: win the lotto baby! Mandel only came away with $97,000 after a $1.3 million win in 1987, because he had to pay all of his investors back.

So it turns out Stefan's idea is probably a bit of a scam nowadays, but it sounds like he was desperate for a bit of fast money!

How to Tell if Someone Blocked You on Facebook

Being able to block people on social media is one of the best tools people have at their disposal on the sites and it is an individual’s right to block someone or not.
It is not up to the person being blocked and if someone blocks you, you need to respect their reasons for doing so. There may be cases where someone blocks your for apparently no reason and you feel as though something is up when they suddenly disappear from your social media site. So here is how to tell whether or not someone has blocked you.

Method 1: Scroll through your friend list

You can tell if someone blocked you on Facebook by scrolling your friend list. Social media professional Chad R. MacDonald manages Facebook pages with tens of thousands of followers and is highly experienced with handling Facebook privacy. MacDonald tells us that deactivated accounts’ profiles and profile photos “will still be visible on your friend’s list, although you can’t click on them anymore. Someone who has blocked you won’t show up at all.”

Method 2: Search for their Facebook profile

If you’ve recently gotten into a Facebook kerfuffle with your great-aunt Nora, you might want to check if things are still okay between the two of you. Do a general search for her name in the Facebook search results bar at the top of the page. If Auntie Nora shows up as a friend, you’re still on good terms, and there’s no need to worry. However, if the widget on her search result reads “Add friend,” this means that she has unfriended or blocked you. A simple unfriend is less worrisome than a block, and you can take it as a sign that there’s room for the two of you to rebuild your relationship. If you’re still able to see her public posts, you have not been blocked.

Method 3: Check your Facebook memories

The “Memories” feature, which shows you old posts, “including everyone who has commented on or liked them,” says MacDonald, is another place to check. “People who have blocked you can still show up on your posts in Memories,” he explains. “Their profiles will show their names in black font that you can’t click on, as opposed to the normal blue font for profiles that you can click through.” A very long scroll through your news feed may serve the same purpose. Or a much faster way would be to simply use this app to see who unfollowed you on Facebook.

Method 4: Check your Facebook groups

A final method is to check your mutual groups. If you are an administrator on a Facebook group, such as a town or school community page, “you can see all profiles that interact there, whether they’ve blocked you or not,” says MacDonald. In these groups, you will be able to view the posts of all users, even if you are not friends on Facebook, and here again any profiles with their names in bold, black font indicate that “the user has blocked you (or you have blocked them) and you won’t be able to view those profiles.”
